San Jose’s Summer Blue return with their debut self-titled EP, a collection of moody, melody-driven songs that channel early 2000s coming-of-age soundtracks through a lens of pop, indie, and soft rock. Building on the momentum of their 2024 promo, the band sharpen their knack for catchy hooks and warm, wistful energy. This is apparent on the “S/T” standout originals and a playful Smiths cover. Formed in 2022, Summer Blue remains a passion project among friends active in other Bay Area bands, but here they’ve carved out their strongest statement yet: timeless, heartfelt power pop for fans of The Sundays and Velocity Girl.
